The ZOO in Dvůr Králové is, without any doubts, the most attractive destination of family trips. Local ZOO got the world achievement in keeping of rhinoceroses, giraffes, zebras, buffalos and rank of antelope families. By number of the kept animals ZOO Dvůr Králové is the biggest one in our country, as well as the biggest African animal breeder in Europe. In the summer season the ZOO offers the African Safari, where visitors drive among free released ungulates and birds. In closed neighbourhood of the ZOO you can make foot trip into the fairytale Forest Kingdom.
Onwards from Trutnov in the direction of Hradec Králové there is Jaroměř town, where you can visit the railroad museum Výtopna Jaroměř. Between the exhibits of the old steam locomotive shed you can encounter seven steam locomotives, the oldest one comes from 1873, unique rack railway locomotive from 1901, electrical accumulator locomotive Ringhoffer from 1916, Diesel locomotives, inspection draisine Tatra and many others.
In Josefov neighbouring is worth to visit Josefov Military Fort, that was built at the instance of Josef II Emperor between years 1780 and 1787. The compound defensive complex was built by using of the best fortification knowledge known in that time. To originate the high defensive values the architects have applied various fortification elements being perfectly integrated in the original terrain.
